The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Department caters for the needs of students with academic, physical, social and emotional difficulties. We aim to provide inclusive provision to all students identified with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to ensure that they participate fully in the life of the school and achieve all that they are capable of.

The SEND department at Telford Priory School supports the needs of learners. Our staff can support and give advice about how best to meet any additional learning needs a child may have through the use of reasonable adjustments.

Student support is seen as a whole school commitment involving every individual; each having a responsibility to offer quality first teaching, providing engaging and challenging experiences across the curriculum and pastoral support.

Students identified as needing support will be supported in the following ways:

  • In class or extra-curricular support as required;
  • Specialist small teaching groups as appropriate;
  • Tailor made interventions to meet a range of SEN;
  • Specialist differentiation of resources, where appropriate.

Students are supported and expected to be in their mainstream lessons mostly, however to ensure that they are achieving their full potential we will look at other opportunities where they can access interventions, small spaces to complete work, and supportive conversations to ensure students feel they have everything they need in school to succeed.

The admission of students with Education, Health and Care Plans are negotiated with the Local Authority, the parents and the school.
